Flat Files Open Call

Vantage Flat Files: 20/21 is a contemporary works-on-paper portfolio curated by Vantage Art Projects through an open call for artists and hosted by WD Western Designers. Artist submissions open May 2020 and close June 2020. There is no fee to submit.

The program will launch with a gallery exhibition in July 2020 and continue in our flat files at WD Western Designers until MONTH 2020. Up to 30 artists will be chosen to participate, and artists may have up to 2 works each in the program. Participating artists and individual works will be promoted and featured on both the Vantage Art Projects and WD Western Designers social media outlets, exhibition press release, mailing list, and websites for purchase. All works will be available for viewing, and will be exhibited salon style on a rotating basis at WD Western Designers, Unit 110 -611 Alexander St., Vancouver, BC.

Contemporary visual artists working in a critical manner in drawing, painting, collage, photography, fiber, and other two-dimensional media are encouraged to apply. The artists will be selected based on the quality of their work and the fit with our contemporary and critical aesthetic.

How to apply

Artists should submit 5 images of artworks including the title, year, media, and dimensions.

Dimensions should not exceed 20″ long in any dimension, or be more than 1/2″ thick. Works that exceed those dimensions will not be considered.


Prices should not exceed $x

The dimensions of each piece should be no longer than 20″ at any dimension, and no more than 1/2″ thick.

Images should not exceed

Please name your image files in the following way: LastName_FirstName_Title_Year.jpg
– Submitted work should be unframed and unmounted.

REFERENCES:
– Please provide us with two references who can talk about your work and practice.
– Please include: name, title/organization, relationship, email address. We will only contact these individuals if need be.

ARTIST STATEMENT: 200 words MAX.

Artist Commitment

Artists accepted into the program are responsible for delivering their work to WD Western Designers in a designated time frame. Artists commit to retaining their work in the program for the duration.

Artists receive 60% of sale price, with the remaining portion covering program costs.

At the end of the program, the artist can elect to receive their work back or retain their work for sale in the flat file archives.

– 20 – 30 artists will be selected for the 2020 Flat Files at OyG for a duration of 12 months (January through December 2020).
– Each artist will have two works in the Flat Files at OyG.
