PROJECTS FOR ARTISTS

Vantage Art Projects 2020 is an artist run, not-for-profit initiative, based out of Vancouver, Canada. VAP creates opportunities for artists through partnerships, nomadic exhibition and installation activities, publishing projects and communications.

Since 2008, Vantage Art Projects has published, curated, organized, and documented contemporary art works and events in various guises and iterations. Today VAP continues to publish catalogs, organize exhibitions and installation proposals, maintain a flat file inventory, and to collaborate with artists, curators, collectors, and art enthusiasts.

Our decade plus history is one of innovation exploring non-traditional means to create opportunities and connect artists, collectors, and enthusiasts.

VAP was the first in Canada to produce an on-demand, limited edition contemporary print portfolio on a subscription basis — The Fresh Picks Portfolio. VAP was also the first in Canada to create crowdsourced, curated, blind-juried, open call exhibition-in-print projects that included commissioned essays. VAP also established a model for private art collection management coupled with legacy book publications.

Over the years, VAP has engaged a number of respected arts professionals for commissions, and has worked with artists, gallerists, publications, art collectors, and institutions. Our fundamental belief has always been that art is an essential service.

Vantage and our principals have worked with: The Vancouver Art Gallery, Canadian Art Foundation, The Art Hop, Canadian Art Magazine, The Contemporary Art Society of Vancouver (CASV), 2010 Vancouver Cultural Olympiad Code Live, The Byron Aceman Private Collection, and The Nikkei National Museum.

VAP 2020 is moving forward under the direction of Jennifer Mawby, co-founder and original director of Vantage Art Projects. Jennifer is a contemporary artist and sometimes curator and art writer.

Vantage Art Projects is grateful to be a guest on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
